One Stranger Away

What I once thought was real,

Was nothing more than a series of singular events,

Strung together,

For a finite amount of time.

 **

What I once thought was a beautiful sunset,

One day,

Just turned into 6pm.

**

I was sugar and honey,

While he was Sweet & Low,

Just a cheap imitation,

Of the real thing.

 **

I was wondering,

Why I was so tired,

Until I realized,

That it had ended a hundred times over,

But I couldn’t stop taking victory laps,

Until my legs ran out of steam.

 **

Normal is a luxury I no longer know,

I chose unhappiness over uncertainty,

One too many times.

**

Truth be told,

The world is full of cowards.

**

Truth be told,

I almost became one.
