The Seven Stages of Grief | Bargaining

 The Seven Stages of Grief

iv.              Bargaining

It’s all the same,

With or without you.

Alone,

Sad,

Sick,

Scared.

So I might as well be with you.

What’s the difference?

«

Maybe when I lose 10 pounds, I’ll call you,

So I’ll be prettier than all the girls you’ve recently followed on Instagram.

I’ll get a tan,

The nose job you always wanted me to have.

I’ll look the part,

So you’ll finally be proud to call me yours.

«

I’ll bite my tongue,

Or hold it,

Whichever works.

Whatever you want me to do.

I’ll make myself small,

And quiet,

So you can be big,

And loud.

«

I’ll stop climbing,

The mountain,

The ladder,

The hills I always seem to be dying on.

«

Instead of arguing,

Or crying,

I’ll take a walk instead.

I’ve already done the math,

It only takes 17,000 steps,

To stop being sad.

«

I’ll be an empty plate,

Waiting to be served,

To the anorexic who will keep me that way.

«

What I’m saying is,

I can be good at being nothing.
